Alex Lanier is carrying strong momentum into the second leg of the Asian World Tour after backing up last week’s title with another impressive win at the POLYTRON Indonesia Open 2026 in Jakarta.
The Frenchman, who captured the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2026 title just days ago, where he defeated Denmark’s Anders Antonsen in the quarterfinals, continued his run of form by overcoming the world number two once again in the round of 32 in Jakarta.
Antonsen, last year’s Indonesia Open champion and widely known in Indonesia as the “Istora Boy” due to his success at the venue, was once again edged out by the in-form Frenchman in a high-profile early-round clash.
Lanier’s recent surge comes after a more difficult European Championships campaign, where he exited in the quarterfinals, but he has since responded strongly in Asia and now moves into the second round in Jakarta, where he will face Malaysia’s Leong Jun Hao.
