After four weeks of major tournaments across Asia in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, the World Tour moves on to Australia this week. Following such a demanding stretch of events, many of the world's and Europe's biggest stars have chosen to skip this tournament.

Among the leading European players who have nevertheless made the trip are five-time European Champions Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva. The Bulgarian sisters enter the tournament as the third seeds and have a strong chance of making a deep run.

Also competing in women's doubles are the young Ukrainian pair Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr, who earlier this year helped secure Ukraine's first-ever medal at the European Women's Team Championships.

Both Ukrainian players are also featured in the women's singles main draw, where they are joined by Hungary's Vivien Sandorhazi, who claimed bronze at the European Championships 2025. Sandorhazi faces a difficult challenge, however, as she takes on fourth seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the opening round.

In men's doubles, European representation is limited to two English players, although interestingly they are not competing together. Wang Yue Hang is partnering Australia's Zewei Xie, while fellow Englishman Steven Stallwood teams up with Australian Roshan Rajkumar.

The men's singles draw features two more familiar European names. Belgium's Julien Carraggi opens his campaign against Ng Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong. Ireland's Nhat Nguyen is also in action. Nguyen impressed last week by defeating H. S. Prannoy in the first round before falling to his friend Toma Junior Popov in the second. This week, Nguyen faces Singapore's Jason Teh in his opening match.

Mixed doubles has been one of Europe's great success stories over the past month, with Denmark's Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje winning three of the last four tournaments, most recently claiming the title at the Indonesia Open 2026 last week. The Danish pair are not competing in Australia, however, leaving Germany's Calvin Deverex and Desiree Toepffer as the only European representatives in the mixed doubles main draw.

The first qualification matches are already underway, and it will be interesting to see how the European athletes perform throughout the tournament, which concludes on Sunday.
